Dancing on the Tightwire

Have you ever watched a wire dancer transform the air into dance? In this workshop we will learn to build from walking on a tightwire into dancing across one. We will cover elements of technique, choreography, and artistry which combine to make a dance on the wire. We will primarily work with turned out foot placement and with balancing fans. Choreographic elements will include fast footwork, jumps, turns, and static balances. Come learn how to turn feats of daring into dancing feet!

Participants must be able to walk unassisted across the wire, and to maintain a standing balance on the wire for 10 seconds. Participants must bring soft soled, NON RUBBER soled, shoes to walk wire in. Leather soled ballet shoes are preferred. Instructor will provide balancing fans.
