Flexibility 201/301: Backbending


Learn the basics of backbending! You’ll develop a deeper understanding of proper alignment and engagement in a backbend. Explore the differences between flexibility and mobility, and discuss ways to open, strengthen, and stabilize the shoulders, hips, and spine. Students will learn, in depth, the purpose behind the alignment cues regularly offered in traditional yoga and other fitness classes. Students should expect to leave the session with a personalized idea of what strength and flexibility factors are affecting their backbends and how to progress.

Prerequisites: None! This is an introductory class for all skill levels and bodies.
