Flexibility 201: Backbending


Description: Come learn the basics of backbending! No particular level of flexibility is required to register, as the focus of this course on developing a deeper understanding of proper alignment and engagement in backbend. We'll explore the differences between flexibility and mobility, and discuss ways to open, strengthen, and stabilize the shoulders, hips, and spine. Students will learn, in depth, the purpose behind the alignment cues regularly offered in traditional yoga and other fitness classes. Students should expect to leave the session with a personalized idea of what strength and flexibility factors are affecting their backbends and how to progress.
